Finding the right coach can be hard work…so, please let me try to make it easier for you!   So many things in this world require us to make choices and decisions and we feel more confident with our choices and decisions when we have done our homework!  Finding a coach should not be any different! After all, this is your life and your relationships we are talking about!

Trying to find the right coach can take a lot of time, if you don’t have a strategy. Don’t let finding the right coach overwhelm you…here are 6 areas I would highly recommend you take a look at when evaluating coaches before deciding who you would like to work with…

  1. Spend some time surfing the coaches WEBSITE. Get to know them, take a look at all their info, read their articles and blog posts, see if they offer what you are looking for! Get a feel for who they are and what they are about.
  2. Because anyone out there can call them self “a coach,” it is important to look for a coach who is trained and “Certified” by a reputable coaching organization, one who’s curriculum has been recognized by The International Coaching Federation (ICF). Find a coach who is a member of the ICF (they set the guidelines for our coaching industry) As a member of the ICF we are bound to follow the ICF Code of Ethics, which protects you and your confidentiality.
  3. While knowledge and training are wonderful, EXPERIENCE in working with people is invaluable! The more experience we have working one on one with clients, the more we can pass on to you! Because we learn so much in the first few years as a coach, our experience offers you some incredible insight and perspective when it comes to your relationship and life issues.
  4. PERSONALITY is key! Are they someone you enjoy talking to and have a “connection” with? If you do like their personality, this could be a wonderful experience for you! I want you to find the right coach for YOU! So, get to know them, their coaching style and see if you feel they are someone you can put your confidence and trust in. You will know!
  5. ASK QUESTIONS!  We love it when a client asks questions! It’s a sure way to get the information you are looking for! If you want to know something…ask!!!!
  6. CALL and talk with a coach, most coaches offer a 20-30 minute free call. You will learn a lot just by talking to them! This may be the hardest step to take…but it will be rewarding!
